Research into photographs and especially invaluable behind-the-scenes and on-set, on-location photographs depicting Australian cinematographer Robert Krasker, BSC at work on famous feature films such as The Third Man can often be made difficult by inaccurate or incomplete captioning and metadata.

So far as I can tell, neither Leslie Baker, Graham Greene, Joseph Cotten or Orson Welles are actually captured in this photograph but Robert Krasker, BSC certainly is.

I don’t know the names of the others in the photograph but will ask an expert to see what he can tell me and will add that information here when he does.

If I had a spare US $550.00 I would snap this photograph up instantly.

Its value as an historical document is beyond price given the rarity of photographs of Australia’s greatest cinematographer and the value of this one showing Robert Krasker in his prime, and what a typical camera crew of the British Golden Age of Cinema looked like.

Such photographs don’t grow on trees and there are even fewer of those than I’d like given the mystery of the 200 on-set photographs from Robert Krasker’s estate that were reportedly sold to the British Film Institute (BFI) but that seem to have disappeared.
