In 2012 the German publishing house Schüren Verlag released the only book about an Australian international feature film Director of Photography, the Australian cinematographer Robert Krasker, BSC, written by Dr Falk Schwarz: Farbige Schatten – Der Kameramann Robert Krasker.
In English, Colourful Shadows: The Cinematographer Robert Krasker.
The original edition in German has been out of print for some time and Schüren Verlag does not have plans to publish a new one in German or English.
Accordingly Dr Falk Schwarz and Schüren Verlag have kindly rescinded their interest in Farbige Schatten – Der Kameramann Robert Krasker and have granted permission for us to republish it.
This page will link to extracts translated into English from this wonderful book that is essential reading for all cinephiles, cinema students and future cinematographers regardless of where they live and what languages they speak.
My first version of this translation may have some flaws, but it will be refined and motived in successive passes through the text in subsequent revisions and I will be adding photographs in future versions.
